Haunted Attractions That Are Really Haunted

Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia Pennsylvania:

It is found at 2027 Fairmount Avenue Between Corinthian Avenue and North 22nd Street in the Fairmount section of the city, and was operational from 1829 until 1971.
At the time of it's operation this Penitentiary was not a place you wanted to be. The guards and councilors of the facility designed a variety of physical and psychological torture regimens for various infractions, including dousing prisoners in freezing water outside during winter months, chaining their tongues to their wrists in a fashion such that struggling against the chains would cause the tongue to tear, strapping prisoners into chairs with tight leather restraints for days on end, and putting the worst behaved prisoners into a pit called "The Hole", an underground cellblock dug under cellblock 14 where they would have no light, no human contact, and little food for as long as two weeks.

So what can you expect when you go there for the Attraction, well maybe a real life angry sprite of a prisoner who didn't make it out, or just really great actors in makeup. Check out this video and you be the judge. It should be noted that children under the age of 7 are not permitted.
And if your wondering is this place really worth it, is it truely scary or is it a waste of time. Well let's put it this way a travel website in the U.K recently named Terror Behind the Walls one of the top 5 Halloween destinations in the world. So what are you waiting for go and get your tickets today and get scared out of your mind.
Try checking out their Facebook page they have some usefull information that'll help you out.

The Dent Schoolhouse:

Located at 5963 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45248, USA.
The school opened up in 1894 and was shut down in the 1950's after it was discovered that a janitor named Charlie Mcfree killed some of the children and put the bodies in the basement.
People started to notice an odd smell coming from the basement of the school house, but the janitor convinced them it was backed up pipes. The smell would re-emerge in 1955 after the disappearance of seven more children. This time a mob formed and broke into the basement, only to find the rotting corpses of the missing students. The janitor was immediately suspected but no one was ever able to find him. Today, the school reportedly still holds the spirits of the children whos lives were taken so brutally, as well as the janitor himself. Maybe looking for more victims who knows.
The Dent Schoolhouse also happenes to be the home of one of the best haunted attractions in Ohio.

And if this video still doesn't convince you, The Dent School is listed on Discovery Channel's Scariest Haunted Houses in America.

Here's there Facebook Page if you'd like to check them out.

Pennhurst Asylum Spring City Pennsylvania:

Opening on November 23, 1908, thing's went from bad to worse. Overcrowding lead to uncleanliness, and as if that wasn't already bad in 1968, it was revealed through a five-part television news report that patients especially the children were being slapped, beaten (including the ones in wheelchairs) to arranging for patients to assault each other. Thankfully it was ultimately closed in 1987.
Now The Asylum is a Haunted attraction that scare's the hell out of thousands of people nightly every year this time of the month, and if the actors wearing the makeup don't scare you, perhaps maybe one of the spirits of the patients will, cause it's said this place is crawling with them.

Think I'm making the scare the hell out of you part up take a look at this video and you be the judge. Check out there Facebook page here.

New post coming soon

I will be posting new material soon but as of right now I'm recovering from a car accident I had on Tuesday nothing serious just have bruised ribs, broken thumb, a concussion, and some other bumps and bruises, I'm still very sore but trying to get better quickly so I can start working on my blog again.
But until I can write out some post's at my computer how about some good movie ideas to get you in the mood for Halloween.
    Let's start off with.

Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp of course. Is there any other this one happens to be my favorite and I make it a point to watch it every year. Directed by Tim Burton, however this movie should not be viewed by children it is rated R. for graphic horror, violence and gore.

Next off is My soul to take. This one I started watching last year but I've already seen it five times it's very good and has a surprising plot twist. Directed by Wes Craven, this is yet another one that should be avoided by children. Rated R for strong bloody violence and pervasive language.

Nightmare on elm street. This one turned out pretty good especially since I had someone to laugh at the whole way through. I've only seen it once because, well Freddy and I had some unfinished business to attend to, you see Freddy was my childhood nightmare. Directed by Samuel Bayer. Rated R, for other reasons then the fact that Freddy will keep any child up at night is, strong bloody horror violence, disturbing images, terror and language.

A Haunting in Connecticut. Is next this one was very good, it even scared the hell out of my brother, and that's hard to do because he thinks scary movies suck. But this one probably scared him and me because it's based off of a true story, scary right. You wouldn't get me in that house that's for sure. Directed by Peter Cornwell. And Rated PG-13 (yeah I don't get it either, fair warning though don't listen to that rating). For some intense sequences of terror and disturbing images.

The Amityville Horror. Would be another one for you to watch if you like scary movies based on the truth. However that's not for me. I have only seen the one listed above once and I probably never will again and it's not because it's bad it's just because it's that good it had me sleeping with the lights on for a while. I have not seen this one however so if you like it great if not sorry. Directed By Andrew Douglas. This movie is Rated R for Violence, terror, sexuality, language and brief drug use.

And of course you can't watch Halloween movies without the actual
Halloween Movies. Yes that's right all 10 of them, don't believe me check it out there are actually 10. But I'm talking about the first ones yes that's right the ones made back in 1978, Directed by John Carpenter, this film is rated R for violence, terror, sexuality, nudity, drug use and brief language. My brother Actually watches these every year and to tell you the truth wears them out, he even sets the theme song as his ring tone and his text message lol. But the movie itself is pretty good, unless if your my Aunt that is you see that's my Aunts childhood nightmare. But can you blame her the dude is creepy.

Paranormal Activity 1,2&3.Now these movies how do I put this, SUCK!!! I'm sorry but That's my personal opinion they do. I've given them a chance but I was disappointed, however my brother and friends seem to have liked them I just don't see it I guess. Directed by Oren Peli, this move is rated R for language. But I'm telling you don't waste the
99 minutes of your life.

Sinister. Directed by Scott Derrickson and rated R, this film definitely sounds like it would give you nightmares for years to come. And one that would probably scare the hell out of you if you were to move or find old films.

1408. Directed by Mikael Håfström, and rated PG 13 this movie is amazing, but that's just my opinion I really loved this movie and yes I've seen it quite a few times. But then I guess that's what you get when you get a movie based off a book for the master of thrillers Stephen King himself.

IT. Also referred to as Stephen King's IT. Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. This film would make anyone afraid of clowns. This film is rated PG-13.

Friday The 13th. Directed by Marcus Nispel. This film is Rated R. Although I've never seen this movie I've heard both good and bad things about it, a few people said it was awesome while others said it sucked and it was a waste of time, the best I can tell you to do is give it a try you might like it.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Directed by Marcus Nispel. Rated R this film will have you jumpy for awhile afterwards. If I recall my brother has seen this movie a few times and has never had a bad thing to say about it.

The Mothman Prophecies. Directed by Mark Pellington, this film claims to be based on actual events that occurred between November 1966 and December 1967 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This film was rated PG-13. I myself have heard many stories about the Mothman and never say the name out loud, I've never seen the movie and when ever someone talks about it I leave the room. I don't even research it, just seen one episode about it on the history channel which kinda scared me into being a little paranoid.

The Crazies. Directed by Breck Eisner this film will have you scared of just who's living next door to you and probably farmers alike. The movie is Rated R for violence and gore.

The Woman In Black. Directed by James Watkins. Even though it's rated PG-13 this movie is not for the young one's, this ghost story will have you on the edge on your seat. My Brother has seen this one at least three times and I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Smiley. Directed by Michael Gallagher, this film is rated R and will have you nervous of any urban legend that has to do with a serial killer that is, so put the children to bed and enjoy.

The Tall Man. Directed by Pascal Laugier and rated R this film is has alot of twist and turns. Enough to keep you wondering whats going on and to keep you on the edge of your seat.

One Missed Call. Directed by Eric Vallette and rated PG-13 this one will have you scared to miss a call let alone answer one. However my brother said that this movie was great and he very rarely if ever says that about a movie so go out, rent this one and enjoy.

The Grudge Series. The first two are directed by Takashi Shimizu while the last one was directed by Toby Wilkins. The first two are rated PG-13 while the last one is rated R .Yet again my brother told me about one of these films and said it was great, however if you again want to be scared of taking showers, the stairs or the dark this movie is for you, not me you lol.

REC. Directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. and rated R, this film was originally filmed in Spanish it was released in English. This film has it all man eating people, demonic possession and a contagious Virus.

Session 9. Directed by Brad Anderson, and rated R should have you on the edge of your seat for sure being filmed in a real mental asylum, yes that's right this film was filmed in Danvers State Hospital. Any way it looks like a great one so I'd give it a try.

When A Stranger Calls. Directed by Simon West, this film is rated PG-13. It is a good movie, although a little unnerving when you have to babysit until midnight and every time the phone rings it scares the hell out of you but other than that a good movie, just make sure you don't have to babysit for awhile.

The Omen. Directed by John Moore, this film is rated R and one you definitly don't want to see alone, so set back with a few friends and let the scares began.

The Saw Series. While they're not all directed by the same person they are all rated R. These movies are my grandma's favorite of all time, you figure she'd be sitting in a rocking chair and knitting something but no not mine oh no she prefers this stuff.

The Ring. Directed by Gore Verbinski and rated PG-13, this film is sure to keep you at least a little jumpy, and even a little nervous to go out and rent this movie.

Silence of The Lambs. Directed by Jonathan Demme and rated R. This movie is very interesting as we take advice from one killer to catch another.

The Exorcist. Directed by William Friedkin and rated R. This film had alot of people scared when it first came out and it still gets to some even now, which is what makes this such a great movie to watch for Halloween plus there's no doubt you'll have your lights on and some Holy Water by your side.

Poltergeist. Directed by Tobe Hooper and rated R, this is yet another film that is great and still scary. So your going to want to have those lights on and that Holy Water beside on this one as well.

Drag Me To Hell. Directed by Sam Raimi and rated PG-13. This movie is amazing I loved it, it kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldnt believe the ending.

                       Halloween Movies for Children:

Edward Scissorhands. Directed by Tim Burton and rated PG-13. Another film loved by many this film is sure to touch your heart in a way you never thought possible, and with it being a Tim Burton film it just has that Halloween feel to it.

Bettlejuice, Bettlejuice, Bettlejuice. Is next this move is perfect if your wanting some family time you can't go wrong with it once again this movie is my favorite, I guess it's that part of me that still wants to hold on to my childhood though nothing wrong. With that. With this one your going to want to make some popcorn balls and settle down to enjoy your time together. Directed by Tim Burton, this film is rated PG-13 for comic horror, violence and peril including frighting images, sexual content, and language.

Halloween Town 1, 2, & 3. Are also another family friendly movie where you can. Pop those popcorn balls and enjoy each other company. Or you could bake cookies or anything you like. Directed by Duwayne Dunham this is the perfect movie to watch with the kids.

Corpse Bride. Directed by Tim Burton, and starring the voice talents of Johnny Depp, this movie is a great way to get the family together for a night of Halloween fun. It has a PG rating but I'd recommend at least children ages of 10 watch this unless of course you believe your child can handle it then who am I to tell you different :). Needless to say this is another one of my favorites and yes I watch it every year, so if you have a limit on movies that you can see make sure this is number one.

Hocus Pocus. Of which I'm not ashamed to say I still watch every year on Halloween. This is also a great way to spent time with the ones you love most. And have a couple laughs while your at it too.Director Kenny Ortega did an amazing job with this film. Well if you have any other movies to add please do and tell why also tell what age group it's for that why every can have a good Halloween.

The Addams Family. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, who can possibly hate the opening song to this film everyone knows it, and its probably the funnest one as well. This movie is rated PG 13 but still a good way to enjoy family time.

Ghostbusters.  Ahh yes this one holds my brothers mortal enemy the marshmellow man he use to wake up terrified in the middle of the night from nightmares caused by the marshmellow man, until finally it just went away. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman, rated PG this film is easily enjoyable for the whole family.

Scream Team. Directed by Stuart Gillard, this is a film for all young and old, I know I still enjoy this movie. So grab so popcorn or even some Halloween candy for yourself and enjoy.

Casper. Directed by Brad Silberling  this movie is rated PG. This film is definitely a great one I've always loved this movie, and always felt  bad for poor Casper.

Well have a Happy and Safe Halloween everyone
